To access the context menu of the application, right click on the Magnifying Glass icon in the System Tray. Below is a brief description of each available function in the BioPrint Menu
Training Tool – learn how to swipe your finger using the real-time image capture of the training tool
Add User – registers the fingerprint(s) of a new user
About – displays the about box and company information
Exit – closes the application, After the first user is registered, the menu item Add User will disappear
To use the training tool, right click on the Magnifying Glass icon in the system tray. The main menu appears. Click on Training Tool option on the main menu. The training tool window appears as shown below
Use the training tool to practice swiping. Finger swiping tips. Swiping a finger across a sensor is a learning process; on average it takes ten swipes to develop good swiping technique. Please follow the instructions below
Place sensor on a flat surface
Keep swipe slow and steady
Press firmly when swiping finger across the sensor
Swipe finger directly across sensor, not at an angle
Before any of the BioPrint features can be accessed, a user must first register their fingerprint(s). Upon installation, the New User window will be the only accessible window until the user has registered. To Add User, right click on the Magnifying Glass icon in the system tray. The main menu appears. Click on Add User option on the main menu.
Enter Master Password in the New User window. The Master Password is used to decrypt files in the event that the device is damaged or lost
Confirm Master Password by entering the Master Password in the Confirm field and click the ‘OK’ button
On clicking the OK button, the Select Finger window will appear as shown below
Click on the finger to register in the Select Finger window. The Register Finger window will appear as shown below
Follow the on-screen instructions to register the selected finger. You will need to swipe your finger at least 4 times to extract enough features, The progress bar will show 100% when enough features are extracted from the finger swipe. You will need to swipe your finger until the progress bar shows 100%
Here is a summary of on-screen instructions/indicators the user may experience during the register process
Swipe finger now – swipe finger across sensor
Successful finger swipe – finger swipe was accepted for enrolment
Unsuccessful finger swipe – finger swipe rejected, not enough features available for processing
Device is unavailable – the device is not connected to the computer
Loading device – the device is being initialized for use
If enrolment fails, the progress bar will reset and enrolment will start over again
If enrolment is successful, the Select Finger window will become active
If enrolment is unsuccessful, the registration will restart from step 4 above
Repeat steps 3 to 5 to register as many fingers as you wish. It is recommended that each user registers at least two fingers
When you have completed enrolling as many fingers as you want, click on the ‘Finish’ button in the Select Finger window
Note: After a successful registration, the new user is automatically logged into the BioPrint application
